Basic Steps To Have Healthy Hair

Hello everyone,

I am back with my new post about hair care. I know everyone loves their hair. Whether you have thin hair or thick hair, curly or straight does not matter. The matter is only how good your hair is. So, it’s important to pay careful attention to our hair care regime to keep them at its best.

If you have coarse, thin, curly, treated, damaged, dry, dull and oily hair taking care of it becomes very important.

As we are entering the most beautiful season that is winter, our hair changes from silky, smooth to frizzy, dry ends, losing moisture, itchy scalp causing dandruff.

I do have curly hair. During winters I do suffer from an itchy scalp. By using hair packs(DIY), I just try to avoid them.

Today I will be sharing with you some basic hair care tips for all the hair types. However, there are few ways to manage those frizzy situations by incorporating a couple of new items and tips into your beauty routine.

Here are some of my favorite everyday tips you can use to get a  flawless, frizz-free hair.

Note: Don’t panic, when you see a small brunch of hair falling. It’s normal to lose some strands of hair a day.

Basic Steps To Have Healthy Hair

  1. Choose perfect hairbrush.

It’s so important to have the right hairbrush, I think its the most important thing. A boar bristle brush or a wet brush are two brushes that help to minimize friction when brushing. A natural fiber brush, like the boar.

A Detangling brush is a must for detangling your hair. Without detangling hair, doing anything make it more mesh. So hairbrush your hair before styling. It helps to reduce breakage of hair and even remove hair knot making it more smooth.

It is so important to have a wide-tooth comb when you brush your wet hair. People say brushing your wet hair may lead to hair fall, but its a myth.

  1. Keep your scalp moisturized.

Good hair comes from a healthy scalp. If you want frizz-free hair then keep your hair strands moisturized. You have to give them the hydration they need by using hair packs and hair masks. Use hair masks that are made with natural ingredients like coconut, argan oil, and Shea butter.

Plus, if you want your hair to look flawless, apply the oil twice a week to deeply penetrate your strands for smoother results. Applying oil help in blood circulation near your roots, which just helps you in hair growth and also reduces hair fall. I have shared a post on hair oils.

  1. Always prefer a Satin Pillow.

Have you ever tried sleeping on a satin pillowcase? If no, then you should try using them. It keeps the hair frizz-free and makes hair healthy. People who have very dry or frizzy hair must use satin pillowcases as it doesn’t tangle hairs and keep the moisture lock inside the hair.

These are good at keeping your hair healthy is because they don’t suck out all of the natural moisture that your hair has but Cotton pillowcases strip this moisture from your hair making it brittle and dry and that’s something you don’t want. Plus, it makes you feel like a princess as she is sleeping on a soft furry pillow.

  1. Avoid washing your hair daily.

Don’t wash your hair daily. Shampooing too frequently can strip your natural oils. Wash at least two to three times a week. Do prefer to use sulfate-free shampoos or any organic shampoo. Some brands that I would like to suggest are Organix, Forest Essential, Khadi, Kama Ayurveda, etc.

My favorite among them is Organix Shampoos because it contains Argon Oil & other natural ingredients and is sulfate free. You can check the review of the same here.

  1. Don’t use a towel to dry your hair.

Say hello to microfiber towels. Water helps the hair cuticles to swell up and produce frizzy locks. If you want to get rid of the excess water as quickly and gently as possible. Microfiber towels are perfect to use because they absorb the water from your hair much faster without causing friction.

Gently bring out the water by lightly squeezing your hair with the towel, then carefully wrap your strands in the towel and let them sit for about 10 minutes or until your hair is mostly dried. A well-balanced diet is most important for your hair. Your diet must be rich in calcium, iron (helps in reducing hair fall).try to eat green leafy vegetables, eggs, dates, nuts, raisins, cereals. Do prefer a diet comprised of protein. Protein helps in hair growth and provide nutrients to your hair.

  1. Trimming.

Trimming your hair once in two months helps in reducing split ends. This is my own personal experience to remove split ends. This is especially important for growing layers or bangs to reshape and make each stage of growing a hairstyle.

  1. Prefer to choose alcohol-free products.

Always check the ingredients list before buying it for yourself. Do try to find any alcohol , then say no the product. As alcohol makes hair drier and it may lead to frizziness. I mostly prefer using hair cram and followed by hair gel which makes my hair smooth and also perfectly defines my curls.
